Mickelson, Rahm Among Latest Commitments to 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Three-time WM Phoenix Open champion Phil Mickelson and former Arizona State standout Jon Rahm are among the latest players to commit to the 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community, set to tee it up January 29-February 4 at TPC Scottsdale. A field of 132 players will vie for the $6.9 million purse, the $1,242,000 first-place check and 500 FedExCup points.

Additionally, notable commitments were received from three players currently in the Top-50 in the Official World Golf Ranking – Tony Finau (40), Si Woo Kim (41) and Brendan Steele (45).
“Phil is an incredible ambassador for our tournament, and as a three-time winner, one of the crowd favorites every year,” said Tournament Chairman Carlos Sugich. “We’re also thrilled to welcome back Jon Rahm, a four-time NCAA All-American and rising young star on the PGA TOUR.”

2010 Champion Hunter Mahan Receives First Sponsor Exemption for Waste Management Phoenix Open

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Tournament Chairman Carlos Sugich announced today that 2010 Waste Management Phoenix Open champion Hunter Mahan will receive one of the five available sponsor exemptions for the upcoming PGA TOUR tournament, which is scheduled to be played January 29 – February 4 at TPC Scottsdale.

A six-time winner on the PGA TOUR, Mahan has appeared in 11 WM Phoenix Open’s, earning a win in 2010 and a total of three Top-10s, including a T4 in 2014 and a T9 in his first start in 2005.  Mahan ranks 8th overall among WM Phoenix Open money winners with $1.7 million in earnings.

Michael Phelps, Emmitt Smith, and Greg Maddux Among Early List of Celebrities to Appear in Annexus Pro-Am at The Waste Management Phoenix Open

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time; NFL Hall-Of-Famer Emmitt Smith and MLB Hall-Of-Fame pitcher Greg Maddux are among the early list of star-studded celebrities from the sports and entertainment world who will be playing in the Annexus Pro-Am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course.

Additionally, Olympic Gold Medal winner Bode Miller, NFL running back Tim Brown and Lady Antebellum star Charles Kelley also will be on hand.

Phelps is considered the greatest Olympic athlete of all time thanks in part to his record 28 overall medals, including a record 23 gold medals. His most recent competitive appearance was at the Rio Summer Games, where he added six more medals, including five gold medals, to his record medal count. The Scottsdale resident will be making his third appearance in the Annexus Pro-Am (2013, 2017).

Zedd to Headline Final Night of Coors Light Birds Nest

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – GRAMMY-winning DJ and producer Zedd is the latest artist announced to the music lineup to the Coors Light Birds Nest – the popular entertainment venue at the Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community.

With the addition of Zedd, the Coors Light Birds Nest lineup is now set. Flo Rida and Kelley James will kick things off on Wednesday, Jan. 31; Florida Georgia Line and Chris Lane take to the stage on Thursday, Feb. 1; One Republic will perform on Friday, Feb. 2; and Zedd will close out the concert series on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Tickets for all four nights are on sale now through Ticketmaster (800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com) and at all Ticketmaster outlet locations. General admission tickets for Zedd start at $65 while VIP tickets are available starting at $300 and provide exclusive access to the Jameson VIP area where guests are treated to a complimentary catered dinner, complimentary drinks and access to a newly redesigned premium viewing area for the shows. The evening is presented by OMNIA Nightclub Las Vegas.

Louis Oosthuizen, Zach Johnson, Webb Simpson Among Latest Commitments to 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Former Open Championship winner Louis Oosthuizen, two-time Major winner Zach Johnson and 2017 WM Phoenix Open runner up and 2012 U.S. Open Champion Webb Simpson are among the latest players to commit to the 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community, set to tee it up January 29-February 4 at TPC Scottsdale. A field of 132 players will vie for the $6.9 million purse, the $1,242,000 first-place check and 500 FedExCup points.

Additionally, former WM Phoenix Open champion Aaron Baddeley (2007) has committed to play.

“The field is beginning to take shape as we get into the weeks leading up to the tournament, and it looks to be one of our strongest ever,” said Tournament Chairman Carlos Sugich.

The 2018 field now includes 19 of the Top-50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings.  Jordan Spieth (2) is the highest-ranked player currently in the field, which features four of the Top-5, six of the Top-10 and 10 of the Top-25 in the OWGR.  Other ranked players in the field include Jon Rahm (3), Justin Thomas (4), Hideki Matsuyama (5), Rickie Fowler (7), Brooks Koepka (8), Alex Noren (19), Francesco Molinari (21), Charley Hoffman (22), Oosthuizen (24), Xander Schauffele (26), Kevin Chappell (32), Si-Woo Kim (37), Phil Mickelson (40), Tony Finau (43), Simpson (44), Steele (45), Russell Henley (46) and Zach Johnson (50).
