PRESCOTT, AZ. (June 26, 2015) – After nearly three years of inactivity, one of Arizona’s premier golf courses is set to re-open. The Tom Weiskopf-designed layout at Capital Canyon Club recently underwent extensive renovations and completed a total restoration of the former dormant golf course.
The Par 71, 6600 yard design features magnificent scenery from virtually every hole on the golf course. With dramatic elevation changes throughout the landscape, Capital Canyon Club offers a challenging, yet rewarding 18 holes for golfers of every handicap. Re-shaped and sweeping fairways give way to undulating greens, some widened and even made narrower to improve playability. With the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff providing an awe-inspiring backdrop to the golf course, members and guests of the exclusive private country club will be treated to a memorable round on the links in Arizona’s high country. Capital Canyon Club will open up play on July 1 while a celebration event is set for July 4. The Grand Opening is scheduled for August 15.
CAREFREE, Ariz. (March 3, 2015) – The United States Golf Association recently announced sectional qualifying sites for the 2015 Amateur Four-Ball Championship. One of the host sites for the USGA Amateur Four-Ball Sectional Qualifying will be Desert Forest Golf Club in Carefree, Arizona on March 23. Played over 18 holes, sectional qualifying will be held at 51 golf courses across the United States with the culmination of tournament action to be held at the Olympic Club in San Francisco on May 2-6, 2015.
One of the nation’s most revered and treasured layouts, Desert Forest which celebrated 50 years of incomparable service and dedication to the game of golf in 2012 will stage the prestigious amateur golf tournament on Monday, March 23.
