Walk Down Memory Lane for Southwest Seniors Golf Association

Playing the historic Phoenix Country Club was a walk down memory lane for the Southwest Seniors Golf Association’s (SWSGA) twenty-two groups! Greeted by the many historic photos and enjoying the Club’s elegant charm effortlessly delivered by Director of Golf, Scott Frisch, and his staff was enjoyed by all. Following play a delicious buffet complete with cherry cobbler and ice cream was a hit while scores were posted.

Excellent shot making was highlighted with Ron Welch hitting his first tee shot of the day to just eight inches to win the closest to the pin on hole 2 and Larry Shreve hitting his tee shot on hole 13 to just nineteen inches. Each winning one dozen Titleist Pro-V 1s. Elliot Tabron took home the one and only gross skin with a birdie 3 on hole 4 winning a carry over skin worth $565. Low Professional honors went to Gerry Norquist with 67 and Frank Ellenburg bested the amateur field with a sporting Low Gross score of 69. WadOmnioe Borg found his magic taking Low Net honors with an amazing 62. The winning team at 125 included Al DeNapoli, Frank Ellenburg, Ray Parker and Steve Stuebner.

The next SWSGA event will be in Tucson on the Catalina course at the Omni Tucson National where the Champion’s Tour plays the Tucson Golf Classic. This field will include the popular “invite a friend” format allowing members to choose another member to be paired together. Plus our Hole-in-One Pot will grow to in excess of $1000.
